About me

I have officially called myself a stylist since 2022. But actually, I've been a stylist all my life. : )  From playing dress-up with my little sister to designing outfits for Barbies to painstakingly selecting what to wear for the first day of school, styling in some form has always been a part of my everyday consciousness.

My career after college was as a graphic designer in the marketing/incentives department of a regional company. After seven years there, I started my own graphic design business. Entrepreneurship was not something I thought I'd ever be comfortable with ... but once I got going there was no looking back. In addition to working full-time as a freelancer, I developed a side business of creating home decor and furniture pieces through upcycling and repurposing. And then I co-created an annual event to showcase the creative work of some wildly talented friends and family, overseeing the promotion and coordination and hosting of those events. And then I developed a communications and marketing position for myself, a role that hadn't existed prior, to fill a dire need in my church. And then I joined on as a founding member of an executive board for an experimental but impactful local project serving unhoused community members. (See? I told you that entrepreneurial-thing took on a life of its own!)

After working as a graphic designer for 25+ years, I decided it was time to dive into something new, something that was a passion ... but a passion that I kept pushing way down into that shallow place we all have where we attempt to store our dreams, but we're not careful enough to store them very tightly or securely because those dreams always find a way to bubble up into our consciousness, rise up in our hearts, and consume our brains until we finally have had enough and we just allow ourselves to experience the delicious terror and exhilaration of letting those dreams come out to breathe, speak and grow wild. (This should probably be a blog post someday; I know we've all felt varying degrees of this.) Annnnnnyway .......... Informally styling friends and family for job interviews, wedding outfits, and vacations was something I was asked to do often enough that, in 2022, I decided to take it seriously and obtained formal training with Kate Taylor International's Stylist School and Business of Style programs. The result? A fun and engaging system that brings inspiration, solutions and joy to clients' understanding of and approach to their style.

I call this business Style Ghost because my goal is to be totally in the background — an invisible guide, a whisper in the ear, a "secret weapon" that no one knows about except my client. Through our personal styling experience, I fade away so she shines.
